The project

Design and fabricate a vehicle that can carry out basic pick-and-place tasks. It was achieved through iterative prototyping and refining the controls.

From CAD to CNC

The vehicle’s base plate, modelled in 3D and detailed in a 2D drawing:

  • Converted the 3D Inventor parts into Mastercam files, so they worked with the campus CNC router.
  • Machined selected parts, including the vehicle’s fibreglass base plate, which were key to the AGV’s assembly and function.
